OUR ACTIONS / FOOD SECURITY

Food Security & Agroecology

In response to demographic pressure and the progressive depletion of island soils in the Idjwi Territory, food security is our absolute priority. We promote sustainable agricultural practices rooted in agroecology. Our approach goes beyond merely distributing food; it is about transforming local production systems. We introduce improved, disease-resistant seeds, train farmers in soil conservation techniques, and develop complementary value chains such as small livestock breeding, aquaculture, and apiculture to diversify incomes and eradicate malnutrition at its roots.

"A resilient agriculture is the first step toward the complete autonomy of a community."
